La WCPT rende omaggio a Robin McKenzie

WCPT pays tribute to Robin McKenzie
Robin McKenzie, one of the most significant figures in the development of musculoskeletal physical therapy, died on Monday 13th May, the McKenzie International Institute has announced.
He died at his home in New Zealand at the age of 82, having been unwell with cancer for several months.
WCPT President Marilyn Moffat paid tribute to the Founder and President of The McKenzie Institute International, which undertakes research and provides education relating to the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).
“The profession has lost one of its true innovators,” she said. “Robin made a significant contribution to the understanding and treatment of spinal injuries and disorders, and his research and teaching have inspired and influenced tens of thousands of physical therapists around the world.”
“The impact of his work will go on and on,” she said.
Robin McKenzie developed MDT following his observation of an event with a patient he was treating in 1956. The method is used to treat back pain in many countries, and the McKenzie Education Programme is presented around the world. In 2007, WCPT presented him with an International Service Award for his significant contribution to the understanding of spinal disorders.
In a statement announcing Robin McKenzie’s death, the McKenzie Institute International quoted his own words: “As long as the human anatomy does not change, MDT and the institute will continue for the next 1,000 years.”
